Professor: You think it`s boring, let`s see how boring the prison is this afternoon. I think so. One way or another, it is clear that this period was extremely important in maintaining the independent role of the Russian state in Eurasia. We remember the policy of Grand Prince Alexander Nevsky, who agreed to temporarily submit to the leaders of the Golden Horde, generally tolerant of other religions, to defend the right of the Russian people to have their own faith and determine their own destiny, despite the attempts of the European West, to subjugate the Russian countries and deprive them of their own identity. I am convinced that this intelligent and far-sighted policy is in our genes. Experience shows that the application of these principles makes it possible, in practice, to achieve concrete and tangible results. Suffice it to mention the agreements that settle issues relating to Iran`s nuclear program, the elimination of Syrian chemical weapons, the coordination of the terms of a ceasefire in Syria, and the development of key parameters for a global climate agreement. This underscores the need to re-establish the culture of the search for compromise and to rely on diplomatic work that can be difficult and even exhausting, but which remains essentially the only way to ensure mutually acceptable and peaceful solutions to problems. I will not address the issues concerning Europe`s slide into the Second World War. Clearly, the anti-Russian aspirations of the European elites and their attempts to install Hitler`s military machine against the Soviet Union played a fatal role in this process. And as is often the case before, the situation created by this terrible disaster had to be corrected with the participation of our country, which played a key role in defining the parameters of the European and world order.
But in reality, the second round of globalization (the previous one took place before the First World War) led to the dispersion of global economic power and thus political influence and the emergence of new centers of power, especially in the Asia-Pacific region. The most striking example is China`s gigantic leap forward. Its unprecedented economic growth over the past three decades has made it the world`s second-largest economy, if not the first in terms of purchasing power parity. This illustrates the indisputable plurality of development patterns and excludes the annoying uniformity that the Western coordinate system implies. Mark: Don`t call me baby. I`m not a baby, and that`s boring! And this is where we come to the dilemma whose effects have been felt for several centuries. On the one hand, Moscow has, of course, played an increasingly important role in European affairs; On the other hand, European countries have been cautious about the emerging giant from the East and have taken steps to isolate it as much as possible and distance it from the main European processes. Western propaganda regularly accuses Russia of `revisionism` and alleged attempts to destroy the existing international system, as if we had bombed Yugoslavia in 1999, in violation of the UN Charter and the Helsinki Final Act; and as if Russia ignored international law by invading Iraq in 2003 and distorting UN Security Council resolutions by overthrowing Muammar Gaddafi in Libya in 2011. This list may be continued.
