Following Durham UCU members’ overwhelming mandate on pensions cuts, a similarly clear message has been delivered on the “Four Fights”, covering conditions and pay. UCU is calling on employers to:

  • address the scandal of the gender, ethnic, and disability pay gap
  • end contract casualisation and rising job insecurity
  • tackle the rising workloads driving our members to breaking point
  • increase to all spine points on the national pay scale of £2,500.

63.7% of members voted, of whom 72.9% backed strike action and 85.4% backed action short of a strike.
