Durham UCU members, in a General Meeting following a consultative ballot, have voted to end industrial action under the current mandate, in recognition of an agreement made with the employer.
The agreement covers:
- a joint statement on USS pensions
- a joint agreement on a matrix of local issues relating to the Four Fights
- a £1000 payment to full-time staff, with payments to staff on other contracts
This commitment means that Durham UCU members will not take part in strike action or action short of a strike, including a marking boycott, under the current mandate which lasts until 7 October. The branch retains the option of balloting for a further mandate during this time if employer actions justify it.
Durham UCU and its members will be financially supporting striking staff in other institutions who are taking part in marking boycotts and other actions during this time.
